Robert G. Edwards: Noble Prize in Medicine in 2010

Hi,friends!
This week I going to speak about a winner of the Nobel Prize because of the development of in vitro fertilization, Robert G. Edwards.

But how it works and what is the IVF, or “in vitro fertilization,”? In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body. This proces involves several steps. First, a woman is given fertility drugs that stimulate her ovaries to produce as many mature eggs as possible (instead of the usual one per monthly cycle). Second, the eggs are retrieved using a suction needle inserted into the ovary. Third, the eggs are fertilized by combining them with sperm in a culture dish. Finally, the best-quality embryos are transferred into a woman’s uterus. If all goes well, a normal pregnancy is the result.

Robert Edwards is a famous name in the field of Reproductive Medicine. The British received the Noble Prize in Medicine or Physiology in the year 2010 for his development of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). He was praised for his developments in treatment of infertility.

Speakin about his live and his academic career, I can say that he born in Manchester and Sir Edwards completed his studies in agriculture from the University of Wales, Bangor. He also studied subsequently in the Institute of Animal Genetics, University of Edinburgh. Also he received his PhD in 1955. Sir Robert Edwards joined the University of Cambridge in 1963.

Talking about the study relacionated in IVF, Sir Robert Edwards began to study human fertilization in 1960. In 1968 he was successful in fertilization of the human egg in a laboratory. He collaborated with Patrick Steptoe, a gynecologist to discover new possibilities of IVF.  Steptoe recover ovocytes from infertile patients. Edwards developed culture media to allow fertilization.

Sir Edwards made a breakthrough in medical history. The birth of Louise Brown (world’s first test tube baby) give hope to all those infertile who could not have a baby.

This is very important becouse he helped to all the womens that they have any problem and they can't have child. Afer the IVT the women who could not have children only can adopt a baby or don't be mother.

NIGHTMARE NIGHT

It was a dark and rainy night. At 11 o’clock, Elisa who had been working until 22:00 was living alone because she had divorced 2 weeks ago. When she arrived home, she drank a bit of water and she ate a sandwich of cheese and ham. When she saw that her black cat “ Angus “ didn’t want to be with her, she realised the bad smell that she had, so, quickly she went to the shower. When she was inside, she heard a noise, but she thought that it was Angus so she wasn’t worried. But two minutes later she saw a shadow in the corridor.

She started to feel worried, who could be behind that shadow? Without time to think,  one man’s head appeared from the curtain. It was her ex husband! Elisa was shocked, she could see in David’s eyes that he was really angry with her, but it wasn’t just a feeling of anger, he looked like if he wanted a revenge. She looked at David, she saw a huge knife in his hand, was he going to kill her?

David looked at her with a devilish smile, he laughed like a mad and he said “If I were you I’d start running”, and he started laughing again. Instantly, Elisa screamed and obeying David, she ran as fast as she could. Suddenly, she fell down, she had crashed Angus. As a consequence, David caught Elisa. She was going to die, but surprisingly, her neighbour George appeared behind David with a pan, he had heard the scream. But when David saw him, he threw his big knife, it impacted in his face and he died in a sea of blood.

Elisa was shocked. She had never seen anything like that in David before. He was totally mad! Suddenly, she started crying when David stood up. He laughed again and he took his knife from George’s face. He looked at Elisa with a devilish smile and he said that he would kill her painfully and torturing her without piety. He came near her and he tied her to a bed. Elisa couldn’t shout because she had a scarf in her mouth.

Then, David went to the kitchen to see if the neighbor was dead, and meanwhile she was trying to get free from the tape of the mouth and the ropes of her hands. The house was very dark but she could see the knife of the table with the moonlight, she took it and cut the ropes that were holding her strongly and she came untied. Suddenly, she went to attack him David, but he was already killed on the floor and her neighbor was alive with another big knife in the other side of the face, and she shouted and ran to call the police.

George took Elisa and said to her: “The police its going to arrest me because I have killed  David so I’ll go to prison. But I’m not going to leave you as if nothing has happened. I’m going to finish David’s work. Hahahahaha!”. She was terrified and she tried to escape but George was very strong and he held Elisa very hard. He took the big knife and stabbed Elisa many times until she stopped shouting. He let the killed body on the bathroom with the knife in it and he escaped from the balcony.

Travelling in Europe: Milan

Hi friends!
Today in my blog I am going to speak about the city were I wont to go: Milan.

Is the second-largest city in Italy. The city proper has a population of about 1.3 million, while its urban area is the 5th largest in the and the largest in Italy with an estimated population of about 5.2 million. The massive suburban sprawl that followed the Italian economic miracle of 1950s–60s with the growth of a vast commuter belt, creating a metropolitan area of 7-9 million people.

In one hand, if you are a person that like the story you can go to Pavia; is a city with great history that spreads up to the coasts of the river Ticino. It is a city with a very attractive landscape because has a medieval aspect that there captivates the interested persons in this world. This city was the scene of a battle in 1525 where the Milanesado was achieved for Carlos I of Spain.

In the other hand, if you like the architecture, you can go to The Piazza del Duomo, the city's main and most central square, surrounded by several palaces and important buildings, such as Milan Cathedral. Dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente (Saint Mary Nascent),the Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fourth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in the Italian state. Apart of this we have the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery and the Royal Palace of Milan.

But if you are interested going shopping, Milan is regarded as one of the international capitals of industrial and modern design, and one of the world's most influential cities in such fields. The city is particularly well known for its high-quality ancient and modern furniture and industrial goods. Milan hosts the FieraMilano, Europe's biggest, and one of the world's most prestigious furniture and design fairs.

Finally, after so many visits it is sure that you want to eat something. You have to understand that in milan there is not nothing cheap so, if you have a limited budget, I advise you to eat a pannini or a pizza. But if you want to eat luxury Italian food  you can eat in the Restaurant Il Luogo I gave Aimo and Nadia.

In this places you can speak with your friends, upload photos, comment this photos, play games and more.

All this social networks have good and no so good things and this are some of theme:

This are some advantages:

-You can speak with the friends that are far away or play with them.
-You can stay conected 24 hours.
-You can share photos and  comments and see other photos and comments too.
-You can give the hapy birthays to all your friends.

Apart of this advantages we have disadvantages:

-Many unknown people can view your personal videos and your profile.
-You can delate your photos of tunti but no of internet.
-Somebody can damage your image, giving false information, sharing photos that you dont wont to be on the web...
-Ther is no privaciti.

Takin all this into a count, I want to say that to do a count in the social network is not a bad thing bat you have to be responsible and configurate your account in order that nobody that you dont know see your photos or your profile. Apart of this you dont have to share phots or comments that can damage your or other person image. Finally remember that the friends of the social networks aren't real friends and can harm you.
